For HuBike, we developed a hybrid mobile app that serves as the key link between users and the smart bike parking system.
The project included complete UX/UI design and app development, with the goal of keeping the technology behind the HuBike system simple and intuitive for users — from finding an available parking spot and locking the bike to monitoring its status and managing additional features.
About the project
A smarter solution for secure bike parking
HuBike is a startup from Niš developing a hardware-software solution to protect bicycles from theft and improve urban mobility infrastructure.
The system is designed for standard and electric bikes and can be integrated into a wide range of urban environments — cities, companies, universities, business and shopping centers, residential buildings, and other locations.
The development of the HuBike system was supported by the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia through the Smart Start program.

Our task was to organize the different functions of the HuBike system into a simple mobile experience that allows users to quickly find parking, check availability, and manage their bike.
A particular challenge was clearly displaying parking status and security information, because the user must always know without doubt whether the bike is properly parked and protected.

Control smart parking directly from the app

Tracking and security notifications
The app displays the current status of the parking spot and allows users to receive a notification if the system detects unauthorized movement of a parked bike.
Electric bike charging
For parking spots that support charging, users can activate or deactivate the smart socket through the app and control the charging of an electric bike that way.
Access sharing
Access to a parking spot can be temporarily shared with another user via a code, without the need to permanently transfer an account or access credentials.
Development
One app for multiple mobile platforms
The app was developed using a hybrid approach, which provides a shared foundation for different mobile platforms while maintaining a phone-friendly user experience.
Development involved connecting the user interface with the HuBike system and the physical parking infrastructure, processing different parking states, and displaying relevant information to users in real time.
During implementation, special focus was placed on the reliability of key actions such as locking and unlocking, because in this case the app is not just an information channel — it is the way users directly control the physical system.

The result is a mobile app that turns a complex hardware-software system into a simple experience available to every cyclist.
Through one interface, users can find parking, secure their bike, monitor its status, manage electric bike charging, and use additional HuBike features.
Through the design and development of the app, we created a digital foundation that can support the continued expansion of the HuBike infrastructure to new locations and different urban environments.
